Rupert Hartenthaler of Clayton, Delaware, formerly of Delaware county, Pennsylvania, died at home Friday November 1, 2002. He was 71. Mr. Hartenthaler was born January 27, 1931 in Austria, the son of the late Rupert and Aloisca Bucter Hartenthaler (korrekt: Aloisia Buchegger).
He was a supervisor for Somerset Knitting Mill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for several years before retirement.
He enjoyed riding bicycles and for 10 years, had bicycled from Philadelphia to Ocean City, New Jersey to benefit Multiple Sclerosis.
In his earlier years he was an amateur boxer and also enjoyed reading, yard work and stamp and coin collecting.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hartenthaler; 2 step-daughters, Lorren Stewart and Debbie Denardis both of Connecticut; a step-son, Brad Otis also of Connecticut; 2 brothers, Vicki and Herman Hartenthaler both of Austria and 7 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Monday November 4, 2002 at 3PM in the Cheswold United Methodist Church, Cheswold, Delaware. Burial will be private.
