Jacob Repas
A frontier minister of the German Reformed Church who settled about 1788 serving families of Southwest Virginia including the community that became St. John's Church, organized in 1798 for the common use of the reformed and Lutheran denominations. Arrived in America with his wife and two children in 1768 from Switzerland. Traversing the frontiers of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Northern Virginia, he established churches, taught and founded schools, and dedicated his life to the educational and spiritual wellbeing of the communities where he lived.
